Paraprofessional Train-the-Trainer Professional Development on October 18–19, 2016

T/TAC at Virginia Tech in conjunction with the VCU Autism Center for Excellence (ACE) is once again sponsoring a Train-the-Trainer opportunity focusing on paraprofessionals. This two-day  live training will be held at the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center on October 18–19, 2016 and is open to leadership teams of 2-3 educators who will be certified to take the information back to their divisions and train paraprofessionals.

The strategies presented are evidence-based practices for supporting students with autism, but will also benefit students with a wide range of disabilities. In order to participate in this training, participants must first complete an online course as a prerequisite to attending the live event. This prerequisite is a special section of the online VCU ACE Autism Spectrum Disorders for Paraprofessionals self-paced course that will run from September 1–30, 2016.

Participants need to do 2 things:  1) Contact Teresa Cogar via e-mail at tlcogar@vcu.edu by August 30th to register for the online course. The e-mail should specify the names and contact information of participants registering for the live course on October 18–19, 2016. 2) Register for the live event scheduled for October 18–19, 2016. The registration link will be available soon. We will send you a separate e-mail when registration for the live course is available.

If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, please act fast as there are only 40 spots available!
