Content Teaching Academy @ JMU

Math

Middle school mathematics and Algebra 1 co-teachers will learn evidence-based interventions to establish fraction, decimal, percent, and integers understanding at the Augmenting Mathematics and Special Educator Teams (AMSET) Academy on June 27–28, 2016. The Virginia Department of Education will assume the cost of registration, the extra meal plan (breakfast and dinner), and DOUBLE lodging. A $150.00 stipend will be provided to each participant upon successful completion of this 2-day academy.

Science

The Augmenting Science and Special Educator Teams (ASSET) is designed for middle and high school science and special educator co-teaching teams in the disciplines of physical scienceEarth science, and biology and will be held June 27–July 1, 2016. The Virginia Department of Education will assume the cost of registration, graduate tuition (3 hours) or stipend ($300.00), lodging, and meals for all public school participants accepted into the program.

Adapted PE

Two adapted PE academies will be held June 27–July 1, 2016. One academy will have an early childhood APE focus and the other will have a K–12 APE focus. Registration is on a first-come, first serve basis with space limited to 30 early childhood and 100 K–12 health and physical education teachers and program supervisors. The Virginia Department of Education will assume the cost of registration, lodging, meals, and tuition for 3 semester hours of graduate credit offered by James Madison University.
