Go Deep Webinar Series

Small girl swimming underwater giving a thumbs up

The "Go Deep" webinars are a follow up to our "Be Ready" series released during the Summer of 2020.  Each of these resources drills down further into strategies and resources for supporting students with disabilities in virtual and hybrid learning  environments and builds upon content presented in the previous series.  We recommend that you view the Be Ready webinars prior to diving in to the Go Deep series.

During this webinar, we will discuss descriptive versus evaluative feedback. We will explain how to use descriptive feedback in a timely manner to move students forward in their learning.  Additionally, we will demonstrate specific examples of descriptive feedback in face-to-face school instruction and in virtual settings.

Addressing difficult behavior successfully begins with understanding. This webinar will introduce attendees to five big ideas that build a foundation for addressing challenging behaviors. This foundation will help participants lay the groundwork for decision-making when creating positive behavior support plans.

This is a brief follow-up video to the Tier 1 Classroom Management four part series. In this short webinar, we focus on integrating a trauma informed approach into your classroom social-emotional learning. We created a "Discussion Outline and Guide" that walks you through key considerations and provides a variety of resources for each. This document can be used for individual learners, a small group, or a whole school staff. Please download the Discussion Outline & Guide to use as you watch this webinar.

This webinar series covers four big areas for building the framework for social emotional learning: developing responsive relationships, targeted instruction for social emotional skills, building a supportive environment, and taking care of yourself. These areas provide the strong foundation for framing and supporting a safe and comfortable classroom community for young learners. This webinar will allow you to evaluate your current practices and strategies for building social emotional skills, and to consider what new tools and resources are needed to support young children and adults as they return to school facing different guidelines and restrictions due to COVID-19.

Access to this webinar series is free, but registration is required as it is possible to earn professional development hours by completing it.  The link below will take you to the registration form.  Following submission of your registration, you will be directed to the webinar content.  Please email Margaret Vaughan (mvaug74@vt.edu), or Kathleen Wright (kathleenw@vt.edu) for more information.

During this webinar, we will explore considerations for conducting remote speech-language evaluations. We will discuss preparing for the session and what makes up a comprehensive assessment. The comprehensive assessment process involves use of standardized assessments, informal assessments, and dynamic assessment in order to inform decision making. We will wrap up the webinar by considering the data collected and how the assessment was conducted in order to effectively write a report.
